WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT TINNIN HUNT CLUB

Don Power and I were at the hunt club the first Saturday in December for my first pheasant hunt. It was an outstanding day! The team treated us like we were high-end customers. The lunch was phenomenal. I was expecting a sandwich and was served the best ribs. Quite simply, the day was first class all the way. I don’t always get a chance to shoot during our sporting clays event so this was a real treat for me. Congratulations on developing a top-notch facility and recruiting a great team. I look forward to my next trip to the Tinnin Hunt Club.

Great people and great elk make for a great experience.

Clayton RueAnchorage, Alaska

Leslie & Corey are some very great people, I enjoyed the time I was there with them. They did everything they could to make sure my dogs and I had as much fun as possible. I am looking forward to going back next year again. I try to get to Bosque del Apache each year so Tinnin is on the list of must do's in the area.
You have a beautiful club and great people there.
Thank you for a great day for my dog and myself!

I just wanted to let you know that everything was outstanding this weekend. The team was top notch, and the birds were plentiful. This was the first opportunity for my son and I to hunt together, and it delivered more than I expected. The guide team was patient and worked hard to ensure we had great opportunities. We will be back.

My sons told me they wanted to do something very special for me. I grew up hunting in the Bernardo area when I was a teenager, and never got anything but a few ducks and geese. I went hunting there because it was close to home and the beauty and crisp air pulled me back, again and again. When they told me they had a spot with Tinnin Hunt Club, I was really excited. I have not been able to do large game hunting as I used to, due to back problems and my business has been booming, so I just didn’t have the time to get away.

I was able to go out 4 days in a row, within an hour’s drive of my home. I was treated with such professionalism and kindness. The views, scenery, and sky reminded me of my hunts there, 50 years ago! Our Guides, Cory and Leslie, were so helpful and went the extra mile to help me get in the right place at the right time. I have never heard so many bulls bugling and I have never seen so many large trophy bulls as I did.

This is one of the best hunts I have ever been on and will be in my memory and my son’s forever. I plan on coming back!

My father Mark just completed a trophy elk hunt at Tinnin Hunt Club and what an experience. I have hunted elk all over New Mexico and I have never experienced anything like I experienced at Tinnin’s. The body size of the elk were huge and the antlers were even bigger. This is the only place that if you truly want a 330 plus class bull without hunting a high fence then this is the place. You will have that opportunity and then some as we were into big bulls every day of the hunt.

They can accommodate any type of hunter from being disabled to a new hunter to an experienced hunter and give you a great time.

Cory and Leslie are by far the 2 best guides/hosts that I have ever been around, Mike was also a great guide but he was only with us for a couple of the days. They worked with us to make sure we were comfortable the entire time and worked hard to keep us informed of what the elk were doing and what the plan would be to get one. I shot a turkey last spring and the advice and knowledge that the two had on where the birds were helped me out big time on where to set up to be successful. When you drive around the property you can see real quickly that without them having eyes and their expertise that it could potentially be a very challenging hunt. On the elk hunt we were just hunting the evenings and Cory and Leslie numerous times kept telling us if we can just do a morning hunt we would be successful. Tom Tinnin said the same thing as well, have to come down and do a morning hunt.

On the 5th day of our hunt we got down there for the morning and walking in the bulls were bugling all around us. Even questioned whether we should make it to the stand or just set up on them. Cory and Leslie made the call to get to the stand and it was the absolute best call as the bull my dad killed came in from the opposite direction and we would have never even seen him.

The bull scored right at 347 and if his right main beam had been identical then it would have been closer to 355, what a bull. There was a bigger bull working through the trees but we couldn’t pass this bull of a lifetime.

We will definitely be back, almost didn’t want to send this testimony as I would much rather keep this hidden gem a secret.

Thank you to Tom, Megan, Cory, Leslie, and Mike for making memories happen.

I cannot say enough good things about Tinnin Hunt Club! Family owned and operated, every single person on their staff went out of their way to make sure all of our needs were met for our shoot.

We have used several facilities around the Central NM area for our shooting events for over 15 years and I can say without hesitation that Tinnin is the nicest property and facility that we’ve seen. The stations were well planned out with varying levels of difficulty making it fun from the novice to the highly experienced shooter. We had great feedback from our guests at the event and see ABC coming back to Tinnin for years to come.

Haven’t hunted there in a long time, but when I did it was awesome and amazin. Birds flew great and sporting clays were also amazin. I plan to go again soon because I hear great things are happening there.

Gary Hedrick

Great people, great fun, great place. Go there. And take lots of ammo!

Jared Larsen

Awesome place! The staff was very welcoming, warm and friendly. Just why you’d expect from other outdoor enthusiasts. I’ll be going back and letting all my friends know about it.

The St. Pius X High School Foundation held its inaugural Jamie Tinnin Memorial Shootout yesterday at the Tinnin Hunt Club near Bernardo, NM. This clay pigeon shoot event was enjoyed by all who participated, both shooters and volunteer trappers. Tom Tinnin and his wonderful daughters Courtney and Megan could not have been more supportive in helping us "laymen" organize and execute our fundraising event. The layout of the Hunt Club is perfect, with shooting stations arranged with safety in mind throughout this idyllic property bordering a wildlife preserve. The Hunt Club also offers several very nice bedrooms for rent for multi-day events. Definitely worth a look for both trap shooters and hunters alike.

Was fortunate enough to spend a weekend at Tinnin Hunt Club. Got to hunt Javelina, Pheasant, Chukar and Quail and had a great time!!! The sporting clays course is a challenge, and the wobble trap is always fun. Lodging is first class and the meals even better. (If you are lucky, Leslie will make Chicken Fried Elk Backstraps for dinner) I am looking forward to the next trip to do some more hunting and shooting. Great people. Great experience.

Allen Giles

I wanted you to know that me and my dog, Samantha, had a very fine time on Friday. I don’t think it could have gone any better. Leslie and Corey were just as nice and professional as could be. We worked as a team and that was an unexpected and fruitful experience. I thoroughly enjoyed working with and getting to know them both. Through them, I learned a good bit more about pheasants and hunting that great bird.

I’m going to speak with Oscar about meeting him sometime in December at your place for some additional hands-on dog training and hunting. I’ll get back to you after speaking with him to see if this is possible. Either way, I will contact you to book another hunt.
BTW, you have a really nice club/property.

Best place in New Mexico to find pheasant feathers!

This was an awesome place to spend the day with friends and family. Everyone at the Hunt Club, we’re welcoming, helpful and very nice. The bonus was beautiful weather and the whole set up was amazing!!!

Michelle Nelson

Just had a wonderful time with Robbie and Ernest at the club! The birds were huge and the guys were extremely hospitable. I’ll be back!

Russ Collins

The lodge is gorgeous, billiards and shuffleboard table in the lobby. Birds are super healthy and big. Fields have great cover. Very close to Abq.

This Hunt Club is spectacular. They offer so many outdoor activities in a very peaceful environment. It is only a 40 minute drive from Albuquerque. I would highly recommend Tinnin’s, if you want to relax, with or without the family. Robbie Tinnin, the Club manager, is super nice, patient, and very accommodating. If you want to spend a night or two or three they have a newly remodeled lodge which is extremely nice. My son and I stayed here a night and didn’t want to leave.

Photography-This is a wonderful venue for all wildlife photographers. They offer spectacular views of the Middle Rio Grande Valley (they are almost on top of the Rio Grande river). Some of the animals you could photograph (from a blind) include:
Rio Grande turkeys
Sandhill Cranes
Mule Deer
Javelina
Coyote
Elk
Geese
Ducks
Pheasant
Quail
Chukar
Countless songbirds

Fishing-A catch and release largemouth bass pond. The bass are feisty and fight hard on a lure. They also have a giant channel catfish pond. Forget your rod, reel or tackle? No problem, they have these and will loan them to you. My son caught a nice largemouth bass after fishing for only 10 minutes. I caught two smaller ones, so he definitely beat me.

Dog training-They are working in conjunction with a professional trainer, Ernest G., to teach pointing and retrieving on-site. My son was able to shoot at a live bird and the pointer retrieved it very quickly.

Shooting Sports-If you want to hone your shotgun skills, this is the place to visit. Robbie is the clay thrower and offers tips on how to improve your stance and hit more clays. There is 5 stand, sporting clays, and wobble trap. They offer a variety of clay sizes including standard, medium, minis, and a super thin, fast clay that is almost impossible to hit! My son shot some of the sporting clay stations and they are extremely challenging, even for those advanced shooters.

Archery-They have a 3D archery course where you can improve your bow skills.

Hunting-Bird hunting with a shotgun includes pheasant, chukar, and quail and if you don’t have a dog, no problem, they will provide one. Other bird species to hunt are ducks, snow geese, Canada geese, sandhill cranes, doves, and turkeys. They offer big game hunting including elk, and deer. You could also call a coyote in as well.

The Lodge is newly remodeled and offers: fully stocked kitchen and bar, living/game room complete with 3 televisions, a pool table and a shuffleboard table, two bathrooms, and four bedrooms (handicap accessible). They offer a steam shower in one of the bathrooms to get rid of any aches and pains.

We had so much fun here, we will be back soon. Thanks Robbie, for making this a first-class facility.

I had the privilege of hunting with Tinnin Hunt Club yesterday. One of the best hunts I have ever had and definitely the best pheasant preserve I have hunted at. Robbie and Mike went out of their way to make my hunt enjoyable. The hunt was more to help train my dog than for myself and they worked with me every step of the way to ensure I was satisfied. I’ve never been more satisfied with a hunt or the guys who run the preserve. They have an awesome Hunt Club and I will definitely be returning. I can’t recommend highly enough. Thanks for all of your help, I seriously appreciate it.

What a beautiful place to hunt, shoot sporting clays, and just escape normal daily routines. Tinnin hunt club is the best place to spend a weekend in New Mexico! And with the location being only 45 minutes south of Albuquerque, there’s no excuse not to go! Can’t wait to go back and experience more!

Since the creation of NM Youth Conservation Foundation, Tom Tinnin has been one of it’s biggest supporters. And since his reopening of Tinnin Hunt Club he has welcomed NMYCF in so many ways. Just being on such an incredibly beautiful property such as THC reminds us of the rich tradition and deep heritage that shooting, hunting, and conservation have here in New Mexico. Tinnin Hunt Club’s dedication to habitat restoration and wildlife management, as well as their commitment to creating a world class facility for sportsmen and women is second to none. I would encourage both novice and expert alike to go enjoy the top-notch facilities, be challenged by the world-class shooting and hunting, and just take in the beauty of the Middle Rio Grande Valley. NMYCF looks forward to a continued relationship with Tinnin Hunt Club as we hold the same values of training the next generation of conservationists and appreciate their ongoing support of our mission and vision by hosting our annual charity shoot.

‘You’ve got to see this place!’ is all I could say after my first visit to THC.

What a surprise, Tinnin Hunt Club!! My Springer, Yuma, and I took off from Albuquerque in March 2016 to get in some late season Pheasants & Chukar. After a short 45 minute drive, we arrived in the beautiful Bosque of the Rio Grande, and its famous Rio Grande Cottonwood landscape. The moment we arrived on the property, the wildlife became alive. With the last of the migratory waterfowl just heading north, pheasants, owl, deer, feral hogs, turkey, it was an adventure around every corner. As I approached the Club I was greeted by the most helpful and friendly staff. In unloading my gear, I was also greeted by two playful Weimaraners. Which Uma thought, ‘birds and new friends, this is perfect!’ As I went into the Lodge, I quickly saw what other surprises this Rio Grande Bosque held. I will let this part be your own adventure, hint, bulging in the Bosque? The Lodge is perfect, great rooms and all of the amenities one could ask for. ‘Let’s get the shotguns out,’ spoke Robert Tinnin, the Club Manager. Out we went to hit the sporting clays. The course is right next to the Lodge, shooting over a pond, with a beautiful view over the Tinnin south 80 or so. This butts up to the Ladd’s Gordon Wildlife Refuge. This clay course turns out to be quite challenging, a bit humbling, but as with most hunters, I loved it. The setting there is truly one of a kind. The meal that evening, by chef Earl, was what you would expect for only the best in the wild game restaurants. The hunting the next day was the perfect wrap to our adventure. Wind rows between fields, heavy cover for the dogs to get tested. Open fields for explosive launches from the quail, chukar, and pheasant for a super day less than an hour from my office. Thanks Robert, Tom, and staff, best two days I can think of for Yuma, myself, and the fresh birds on the barbecue.

I wanted to thank you again for the opportunity you provided me to shoot my very first pheasant and chukar at the Club this past February. It was nothing but a great experience. Earl was a gracious host, and did a wonderful job giving us a sampling of what the club has to offer – from the variety of sporting clay shooting stations, to the tours of the property, and providing us with snacks, beverages, and lunch after the hunt.

Of course, the hunting experience was so fun! I have not had a chance to go on a small game hunt since I broke my foot last spring, so I was rusty. I was able to get warmed up with the clay pigeon shooting in the first part of the day, which I believe is the reason I had a successful hunt in the afternoon.
You have a beautiful piece of property, and I feel so blessed to have had the experience to enjoy it.

I want to give a big thanks to the Tinnin Hunt Club.

This past year has been such a blessing to hunt at the Club. I have invited a few friends to shoot clay pigeons, hunt duck, chukar, pheasant, and quail. We were all so impressed with the quality of the birds. I am looking forward to hunting, and doing some bird dog training at the Club this coming season.
Whether you want to get some refresher training for your bird dog, or enjoy a quality hunt, the Tinnin Hunt Club gets five stars from me. My wife was able to get her first pheasant and chukar this past season; she is ready to go back!
A big thanks to everyone at the T.H.C. that made last season such a great experience.

Shot pheasant and chukar in late December at Tinnin and had an incredible experience! Tinnin has great facilities and professional, knowledgable, and fun hunting guides as well as great pointers during the hunt. The multiple skeet ranges at Tinnin were a lot of fun before and after the hunt. I felt relaxed and comfortable the whole day, and I plan on going back again and again. I highly recommend a trip to Tinnin to any bird hunter, you will be very pleased and have a great time!

I wanted to take a minute to let you know how much my son Cody and I enjoyed your farm near Bernardo, NM. I know that you are aware that I sell farms and ranches for a living, but I have never been on a farm that has what you have to offer. Bird hunting includes ducks, pheasants, geese, quail, and chukar. What really surprised me was that you have mule deer and elk as well! I can honestly say the improvements on your farm are also second to none. I understand that you are thinking about doing a hunt club. I would be very interested in being a member when and if you do. It is truly a Sportsmanship paradise within an hour from Albuquerque. Thanks for your hospitality to my son Cody and I. Keep me posted on your progress Tom, thanks again.

I want to thank you and your family/crew for the extremely enjoyable visit to the Tinnin Hunt Club! I’ve heard you guys talk about it for years, but never had the opportunity to experience the Tinnin hospitality that you guys exposed me to until we rolled through the front gate. I must highly compliment you on converting your dream into a reality. The lodge is very comfortable and well laid out, making the little bit of down time a smooth transition into rest . Then we get to the meals! I know who was doing the cooking, but I don’t know who set up the menu. Whoever that person is sure had a cowboy in mind, because every meal was great and stuck to my ribs. The only complaint I have is that you guys would not let me wash the dishes! Now we’re getting to the fun part! Tom, your sporting clays course is a thing of beauty. I think when it comes to my shooting though, we will need more shells for my next visit. As you will remember, I had a lot of misses! I enjoyed the wing shooting more than any Texas bird hunt I’ve been on in several years. The boys even cleaned my birds!

The wide variety of wildlife and different possibilities of custom hunts really got my attention. The best thing is even for a non-hunter you offer a relaxing and exciting viewing area and photo safari!

Well, I guess I best stop slapping you on the back and say thank you again for sharing the experience! Warmest Regards.

We recently visited Tinnin Hunt Club to not only see this privately owned treasure but also the newly-completed club, sporting clays range, accommodations, food service, wildlife habitat, ponds, and waterfowl heaven… Oh did I mention wildlife gunning pheasant, chukar, and quail? Sightings of elk, mule deer, Rio Grande turkeys, feral hogs, javelina, Gambel’s quail, Sandhill cranes, waterfowl, and birds to mention a few; all living wild in this their chosen environment.
Thanks for sharing ..(Tom, Robbie, Megan, Courtney Tinnin) and staff at Tinnin Hunt Club.

Our group had a great time out at the Tinnin Hunt Club. The course was challenging and there is a great 5 stand over the water. The clubhouse held us all for lunch and with the location being just off the highway south of Belen, a short drive from the ABQ Sunport, it’s close yet it’s a world unto itself. Tom and his staff are welcoming and accommodating. Look forward to going back this Fall.

As someone who has traveled the country and experienced a wide range of shooting facilities and clubs, the Tinnin Hunt Club is far and away one of the best. Sitting next to the Rio Grande, the hunt club truly embodies everything New Mexico has to offer and more. The professional staff, facilities, and the quality of experiences are not matched by any other in the region, including the challenging, but fun sporting clays course. I would highly recommend this to any other avid hunter or shotgun enthusiast from around the country.

For someone interested in reliving the days when sporting clays targets were heavy on the fun factor rather than just a frustrating test of shooting skills; and when preserve bird hunting was an enjoyable outing with your family and friends, the Tinnin Hunt Club is a rare retreat.
Owner Tom Tinnin and his crew/family have created a comfortable outdoor getaway less than an hour away from Albuquerque at a hunting lodge and game preserve that has maintained a down-home atmosphere. It is their personal, hands-on approach of making anyone’s stay a pleasant experience that sets the club apart from other resorts. They are a testament to the fact that quality, comfortable accommodations, enjoyable wingshooting and fine dining can be achieved with hard work and attention to detail.
During a recent stay at the club, I was able to spend several hours on the sporting clays course busting targets like those thrown by hand-operated traps when the sport first came to the United States in the 1980s. Some targets were testy; some were easy; but each station was packed with the type of fun that once filled the hearts of all those attempting “hunters’ clays.” I don’t remember the last time I laughed so much at the shooting success — and more than a few missed targets — while shooting with friends both old and new.
The bird hunting operation is a work in progress at the club, although the potential is there for the development of some fine wingshooting action on pen-raised pheasants, chukars and quail. In addition, the facility sits right in the middle of a waterfowl mecca with both jump shooting and pass shooting opportunities in abundance.
I enjoyed my short stay with the Tinnin family and found their facility to be a home-style adventure that is a pleasant oasis for those craving a trip back to the good old outdoor days.
